250 wont idle

hey my 250x wont idle? i turned the idle knob and nothing works. when i let off the gas its like someone just turned off the key? any suggestions?? thanks

If it runs with the throttle on, try raising the needle. Even tho that shouldnt have anything to do with the idle. check the pilot jet. that is what effects idle. Also adjust the mixture screw where the rpm sounds the best. also check all connection and feul lines. And that there is plenty of feul. whats the plug look like???

i will try that, over the summer i had to replace the plug a number of times, u think that that could be y? and what do u think would be fouling my plugs? thanks

well make sure you are using the right recommended plug. And if its to rich (which it sounds like you are), then it will foul them out too. OR to lean. I would recommend a total maintenance check too. Whens the last time that motor has been overhauled and checked?

I don't know if this will help but my friends 4-wheeler would not idle either and we took the carb off and the E-clip fell off the nedle once he put it back on it ran fine..

yeah i was thinking about taking the carb off and looking at that. i think it is about time i did a little engine run though. i think the last time it was gone though was when it had all the work done to it about 4 years ago.
