how do these engines campair to each other. are they the same as far as mechenicly and such. i just bought an 87 xr250r dirt bike and wondering if the info posted on here for the 250ex could be used for the xr.

i believe they are TOTALLY different motors. the motor out of a 250ex is the same as the recon, but it's not out of a xr dirtbike. i am 99.9% sure none of the info for an EX could be used for the XR. sorry.

damn, i was kinda hoping they would be somewhat the same, do you know of any place i may be able to learn about this bike?

They are nothing alike.

I was looking into conversions that would work with a 250 and all the other 250s were either chain driven or they were some junk model.

But Im also almost positive nothing compares on them.

i think the 250x motor and the xr250 motor resembled each other..........;)

the xr has dual exhaust and dual intake, looks a lot like a 400 engine. i joined over at the other forum, i guess well see how the resopond. if anyone has had one of these or is familuar with them at all and has a couple tricks of the trade for them, by all means share. having carb troubles right now:mad:
