well i have a friend that works for fords senior R&D team. I have too keep keep his name uknown so he wont get busted. But they are in a devolpment of a new "supercam" that is adjustable with the engine revs. It works off of the oil pressure in the engine the lower the pressure the more low-end the engine is as the pressure increases it becomes a ld (long duration) cam. how it is done is the lobes are spring loaded almost and oil runs to them and it gets more pressure under the lobe and pushes it out from what i am told. this technology should spring up in late model '04 and '05 fords........ :) pretty kool huh?

The germany companys been building this for years now. This design is now been in the states for a couple years, Still in design. I am currently working with GM motor devision on a variable cam design. It will be out in the 2005 models.

GM has also been testing (in it's SAAB nameplate) a variable compression engine. The head rocks as if it's hinged on one side. It will slightly increase compression for more power under harder acceleration and will decrease compression for less power and better fuel economy at highway cruising.

honda uses that in most of its engines, its called v-tec. variable timeing electronic control. they hit hard as hell on DOHC engines. my friends got a 94 gsr hatchack. in 1-3 gears when vtec "pops" or when the longer duration cam kicks in, it busts the tires loose. it ran i think like a 13.4 allmotor, no nos or forced induction.

Ford calls it vct variable cam timing, and honda has been calling it vtec for years..

Rolls Royce began using Variable Cam Timeing or "VANOS" in the late 40's with the Republic built airplanes.

Rolls is also the current builder of cam timing controls for many of the German cars.

When it comes to ford vs. dodge vs. chevy. It ranges from diesel to gas, V-6 to V-10, maual or auto, 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, so you cant ever say which one is better that is just stupid.

Ive seen plenty of powerstroke diesels blow up their trannies, chevys blow them and the newer dodges are right their with them :ermm:

Really tho guys, it all comes down to what your dad told you was the best when you were 4........ and my daddy told me chevy for gas, dodge for diesel:o

foxhonda_400ex

the only reason dodge has a good diesel is becuz they use the cummins, if dodge built its own, they would suck as much as their gas motors. if only they could learn to build a trans that can take the cummins, their trans always blow.

very true, i hated chevy when i was younger, then i actually got around the neighbors, i loved it.
my dad is diehard dodge for the strait axle front end on the 4x4. "how a cars front end (IFS)going to hold up to farm work". he didnt really want diesel, so he got the v-10

either way, i think that they all have pretty much the same record... if you maintain it, it will last and be a good truck

i dont really care which brand, as long as it aint dodge (sorry dodge guys) but we have a 2001 mustang bullitt, 1997 ford explorer, and a 72 corvette LT1, (and a few other cars, but those are the american ones). im good for chevy or ford, GMC is cool too.
