View Full Version : Going to 22" rear tires, what gearing to offset

I'm running 14/38 gearing right now. I want to go to 22" tires but don't want to lose low end for XC riding. How many teeth would I have to go up in the rear or down in the front to offset the extra 2" on the tires? Would a 13 up front do it?

I use 14/39 with my 22's but have been very tempted to play around with 13/36 to 13/37. :)

i run 14/38 with 22"razr II heavy tire. My friend runs a 13/38 and it looses quite a bit on top.But will get a quick jump on ya if ya dont watch it.
