My rotor is warped pretty good

I assume it happened when my skidplate got all taco'd

What should I do ? Go with a stock replacement , Wave Rotor , R conversion ? ? ?

Cheaper the better ;)

Opinions?

I think the stock system would be the cheapiest way to go, although I would put a motercycle (Exp: crf450) brake rotor on it. I think pappy did it with his 426ex.

Not positive on that, though.

I thought pappy put the whole caliper and all ( using a special bracket) I would get the 250r caliper and disc. You get a bit more clearance, and its dual piston. You can find it pretty cheap on e-bay. I wouldnt get a wave rotor unless your gunna run a skidplate or know you wont bend it again. Cause the waves are expensive.

I know the Honda rc51 rear rotors are the same too. Look on ebay sometiems you can pick up good ones for 20 bucks.

Interesting

Do the 250R Caliper/rotor parts bolt right on to the 400 brackets?

For the 250r brakes you need a 250r carrier stay, 250r caliper and a 250 anti-fade and 250r caliper. The 250r disk might fit on the stock rotor hub but im not sure about that.

I got a wave rotor from Rad Mfg for $75. Direct bolt on replacement, looks and works great.

i opted to do the crf front caliper conversion...
for 1 it allows more ground clearence (same as the R rotor..same rotor is used)

2...the crf caliper is alot newer and getting rebuild parts is easier and faster

the bracket from GT THUNDER is very resonably priced and the calipers from the front of a crf can be had on ebay for average of $50

so for $125 including a used R rotor and hub you have a dual piston rear brake set up...

then to pay for it all i sold the stock caliper for $70 and the brake stay for $30. so the whole deal ran me $30:eek2:

actually im gonna prolly switch the R hub to a LSR anti fade and wave rotor ...any one wanna buy some R parts:p

I used that rotor before i got my wave rotor. The only problem with it is its not stainless steel and rusts.

Pappy, I talked to you about this a few days ago. I think I might have misunderstood something:rolleyes: :p

Are you putting the front CRF caliper on the rear of the 400ex?
Or is this a complete front brake conversion on the 400ex?

all you use from the crf bike is the front caliper and caliper mount.

to complete the conversion you will need a trx250r rotor and rotor hub and the bracket made by gt thunder (i dont know if anyone else makes this bracket thats why i keep using that company)

i had all the stuff i needed but now im gonna upgrade to a anti fade hub and lock nut.

Cheaper the better?

Parts unlimited rotor from a catalog, or a used stock 1 from a parted out e-bay bike.

I wouldn't buy a used rotor unless I could check it for straightness.

If somebody had a good feedback rating & had made a large # of successful auctions, I would trust an e-bay seller.
