Hello all,

I rolled my bike over Labor Day and have discovered that the steering stem is bent. I am pretty set on just going ahead and replacing the stem with an OEM unless I can really get a deal on an aftermarket stem for a comporable price. Anyway, my main question is: When replacing a stem, should you go ahead and replace the bearings and/or bushingsas well and any other hardware? Or should the stock hardware be fine with a new stem. I have a '00 400, but it does not have a lot of hours on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx

If everything feels tight, there's no need to, but it never hurts to replace them.

You can probably save some money and have a machine shop straighten your stem for you.

stock stems on www.servicehonda.com are 44 plus shipping. your bearings are fine most likely, and do not have ashop straighten it, itys already weak, you do not want it to snap over a jump

Exactly what YZ said, I just replaced mine 3 weeks ago. They are pretty cheap to buy new.
