If you want to go into the motor then I would suggest a 416 piston kit with a cam. This set up will give you the power to keep up or beat the z400 ;)

ok...wut about a 426 kit?

I don't know if I would start with the 426 kit just because if something does go wrong in a 426 kit you will need to resleeve to a 440 or back to the stock bore.. If you do the 416 first you can always bore to the 426.. This is just my opinion.

Have you taken the air box lid off and rejetted yet? To get the most out of you pipe. This won't do as much as a kit, but helps.

What part of ky you from. A manual will help, but there's a cap on the bottom of your carb that will allow access to your main jet.
Be gentle using I believe 6mm socket to get out old and put in new, You can buy from honda dealer a 155 or 160 main to start. Have to let more air in though, or it will be too rich with larger main jet. What kind of pipe do you have?

My bad, do you have a 400 or blaster?

Maybe you should get the bike and learn to ride it before worrying about mods.

Hey man the Z-400s arent that much faster.. A pipe, K&N Filter and jet kit will be be enough for you to stay with them, if not blow past them!

Yes, I believe that !
I've been running mine with a 3x5 hole in the air box lid and a race ready z400 with just pipe and jets pulled from me out of the corner at Haspin track. I took my lid completely off and I believe I could of kept him off me this time. Waiting for the next time to ride.

Maybe you should stop bustin the guys chops & let him ask 4 advice in peace.

If reliability is at the top of your list,

dont go w/ bigger bore or higher comp.

Slip on, no lid, good filter, degree key, & fine tune the hell out of the carb.

Any more rad mods (bore-compression)=heat=less reliable.

I really don't see a reliability issue with a bigbore as long as you change the oil, oil filter, and clean the filter often it will run a long time.

if you just want more speed, throw on a 16t front sproket, you don't lose any reliability with it. if you want to know more about the 16 tooth, there is a thread going in the powertrain board right now. just to let ya know.

I don't mean this as a flame or a personal attack.

There is a WEALTH of information in this forum, and this is a good place to start. However, if you do not know how to do something as basic as re-jetting your quad, then you are in over your head. It's a simple procedure, but extremely important.

I'd really suggest you take some time and learn a little more about your quad before you go looking for upgrades and performance modifications.

Again, I'm not saying you're stupid or that you are not capable of learning, I'm simply saying that you NEED to learn the basics first.

It's kinda like a complex math problem. Don't jump into complex linear algebra if you still need your fingers to add and subract.
