Mr Atc is an idiot but The atc probably will win.
Not on an mx track or anywheres that turns are involved....

ive seen both 440exs and 250rs and a 440ex would kill a 250r in a drag race.

most 250r's can beat 400ex's. Cause its takes less money to make an R faster then a 400ex. Sorry about your luck. But a 440 should beat a mostly stock atc R

I think the ATC would win as long as the race was in a straight line.

Light mods and the atc would win but stock atc and the 440 would. Whoops and straight lines would be the only competition.

I would also say the atc in a stairght line, its a lighter trx250r. On a track its a different story.

atc 250r are fast as hell i dont think a 440 will beat it, mr atc came on here talking how he can beat any quad on a mx track, he ended up getting banned, he knows some stuff but hes a real a hole

You may have rode a friends around the local riding spot for a bit, but never owned one. I have a 350x, and sold my ATC250r a couple of years ago. You would be supprised how good an ATC can corner in the hands of an expierienced trike rider. They are difficult to ride, just think if all you had to ride was a trike for the last 15 years.... I think you'd be good at it. You can also jump an ATC pretty well, too. They are very unforgiving on the landings if you make a mistake. Talking from my expierience, the ATC will suprise you. Don't get me wrong, I love all my quads. Back in the early 80's there were no quads. Some of you youngsters weren't even born. Imagine going down to your local dealer and seeing all trikes on the showroom floor! If the 250r had similar mods, I'd bet on the 3 wheeler.:D

u put a pipe, reeds and filter in the r and a minor port it should have no prob with the 440

This has nothing to do with drag racing but wouldnt a freestyle ATC competition be SIIICKKK! I would pay some cash to see that. Who wouldnt want to see a 3 wheeler Bust out a bar hop over a huge gap.:D

I have seen an old atc250r 3-wheeler at our local riding area a couple of times. I think it looks cool, it is very clean. It almost looks new. It is stock as far as I know, it has the stock pipe on it. I drag raced him a few times and he will not even line up when I pull up now. I smoked him the first time we raced. The second time, it was closer but I still won by about 3 to 4 bike lengths. He will not race me anymore. And mine is not a 440, it is still a 397.

I think his riding skills aren't as good as yours.

You may be right. He may not be used to it. I know the atc250r's are supposed to be fast. I have seen one that was spanking slightly modded banshees.

whoever owns a 400ex will say that 400ex's will win, whoever owns a 250r will say their 250r will win....it doesn't matter what you own, people will always say their machine is the best which it may be...so to clear this whole mess up why dont we just say that if they raced it would be a tie

The trike will win in a straight line.

I own a bone stock 1986 ATC 250R and have a mildly modded 416ex. In a straight line it is no contest if the trike is piped. My ATC is still on the original stock bore and pipe and it will take my 416 in a drag.

Unless the 440 is built to the hilt and the rider on the trike is not on his game will the 440 win. Dont forget, the trike only weighs 289lbs

It depends on what year ATC your talking about, the early air-cooled versions were not that fast but in 85 the liquid came out and they are quick. I have one in original condition, motor has never been apart.

The 3 wheeler if the guy can ride it. 100lbs lighter than an Ex but wheelies like mad.

A good built 440ex WILL beat atc/trx 250rs. You put a pipe, carb, port work, ect... on a trx 250R and it will be a good race but the 440ex should still win if the 440ex is built right, I say that because I have seen some SORRY 440's out there. As for a ATC250r if it has been modded I don't know if the 440 would beat it in a drag because of the weight difference.

If the 440 can be piped it will win no doubt, against a trx 250 w/ a 265 powervalve i blew him off the line, and he only gained a lil on me once he hit 6th gear. 100 pounds would make a diff but how much? either way i know a non bored r cant touch me unless they can go more than 85m.p.h..........

Then i'd NEED the boondocker N2O kit  i read gain of 15 mph......
