View Full Version : Calcium flakes to control dust/weeds?

Anyone use calcium flakes to control dust or weeds where they ride? If so how does it work? Don't think it is toxic, but not sure and would have concerns about roosting it up on my yamaha riding buddies. :D

I think they use that stuff on the indoor track at Motodome in Staples, MN.

I must say it does the job.

Don't know if it dangerous though.

I use calcium in my salt water reef tank,it keeps the algea down,so I can see it being possible outside the water also:blah:

calcium flakes to control weeds? never thought of that, at work we use calcium cloride<sp> just add water and it gets REALLY HOT ,so it just probably burns the weeds up.with cemical heat.....

we put lime down on our fields in the spring to control the acidity level, but the lime anyways doesnt kill weeds. I bet a higher concentration of calcium, such as the flakes would work. Plants need so much of a ph level in the soil. Calcium would eleviate that ph and the initial drop would kill the plant. We's studyin plants in bio right now:D

becareful though about lime cause it can really mess up your ground and boots i was at a site stepped in a big water puddle about 1/2 up my boot and then stepped in lime and it just made my boot srink all the way to my foot so i had to about cut it off just to walk. so becareful its some strong shyt!:eek2:
