Is there such a thing as a good aftermarket cdi box that increases overrev and still lets the quad start when its cold? I am only interested because all the dyno charts of engine builder's 440s rev up to 11,000rpms and get their max power around 10,500rpms. I know the WB is crap, what about any others.

Fischer Cycle out of ashtabula, OH. makes one. It revs very high and it will start as good as you stock CDI

many of the race shops will modify your stock cdi box to remove the rev limiter.. this shouldn't make it harder to start cold (as opposed to the WB box and some others that are re-packaged XR250 boxes..)..

check out the ask Mickey Dunlap (http://www.exriders.com/tech/askmickey1.shtml) page for some good info on CDI boxes..

I wounder how hard it would be to modify the stock cdi box and get rid of the rev limiter? Who knows maybe is all you have to do is cut a couple of wires and connect it somwhere else you know?

I think the TC Racing CDI Box is like the Fischer Cycles Box.

i would only use fischer, TC or sparks
My friend paid a "unknown company" to do it and it was just about the same as stock, it was dissapointing! im ganna say the name of the company but those are the only companys i would trust, fischer, TC or Sparks!

I got a Hot Box from www.cal-atv.com I think it was only about $80 and I have not had a problem with it starting in the cold. I am not sure if that web site address is correct or not. If not they have a small add in the back of Dirtwheels. ;)
