I am in the process of putting in my Sparks 8 plate and for some reason, I can't get and tension on a cluch pull. I'm pretty sure that I am engaging the lifter arm by turning it a little while putting on the case cover. I've tried adjusting at the case and at the lever, there's just no tension.

When I pull back the lever, it stays there, doesnt return?? Cable is 1 year old.

When I turn the lifter arm the only tension I have is the return spring...

Any help??

Alin, disconnect your clutch cable. If the lifter arm is engaging the pin it should be very hard to turn the lever clockwise with your hand, CCW it should be quite easy(looking at it from the top). The arm should also be at the same orientation as before you took the cover off. Did your clutch go back together w/o any issues or interferences?

the lifter arm is grabbing the pin, I can tell when I turn it, it will pull in the case a little tighter. The lifter arm is in the same position as before.

The pin moves in and out like 1/4 inch, is that normal?

Yes, the fibres and steels went in like butter...no probs

"The pin moves in and out like 1/4 inch, is that normal?"
Do you mean that the lever moves a little up and down in the case when you engage/dis-engage the clutch? If so, then yes it does slightly.
Is it actually dis-engaging the clutch when you pull the lever in? (Check by putting it in gear and trying to rock the bike with and w/o pulling in the lever.)

No, not the peice that runs thru the case moves a 1/4 inch, the pin in the center of the pressure plate moves in and out like 3/8 inch.

hey Alin I just got done doing my cluch and it is normal for that center pin to move about 3/8" or so. There is no way your clutch is engaing, if you can pull it with your hand.

you can pull it with your hand.

:D

Just trying to ease the tension of losing a fight with your clutch.
