Well I will believe it when Honda actually releases the pics.

If thats what it looks like, I had my hopes up for nothing. The thing is uglier than a cannondale :grr: I am not too happy. It doesnt look too race ready too me, unless it actually comes with Elkas. Which I doubt. I truely hope its looks better than that. :(

look at the frame on the side... looks like a cdale or part of a CR frame... the fenders looks like on the drawing but the fuel tank is weird..

Id say those fenders look extremely Unfinished. The Honda Wing goes down onto the bottom of the fender. It comes with elkas,AC Bumper,looks to have ac skids,The Plastic goes 4 inches up in the air by the gas tank,Pro Taper Bars..Smells Fishy To me!

I think thats definately it look at the frame tubes running up to the front shocks, just like the artist pic.

But i also think some photoshopping was done to hide the fenders. the TRX part looks horrible.

Those of you that are deciding on a quad because of it's looks should find another hobby. Maybe modeling, interior decorating, clothing design....
It is the performance and reliability that reallly matter.

Im going with its real. YOu can easily tell that the plastic is not attached like someone was taking it off. The seat is not even attached. Looks like the rear fenders are attached to the seat (yes!!)

I dont think it would look bad if the plastic was actually attached. I wish it actually does come with elka shocks. Its probably a pic from elka or some people that make parts for quads. How do you think aftermarked parts are ready when the bike first comes out?:macho

Ever since the concept drawing came out it seemed that many people bashed on how it looked without any consideration on what the performance of it might be. So many people are concerned about apperances, it's just something that irritates me;)

That looks like the real thing to me! It looks exactly like the drawing from honda from what I can tell. Other then in the drawing the front of the frame is wierd shaped.

Mother always said there'd be idiots in the world. She failed to mention there'd be this many. The thing's photochopped. Here's a few observations to be made.

1 - That bumper has AC written all over it.
2 - Let's take into consideration the YFZ and its title of an out of the box "race quad". Even it didn't come with nerfs, yet this mutt does?
3 - Shadowing of the skid plate is off.
4 - It's right (that's correct, it's right, not your right) front fender doesn't look to have the same cut on it as it's corresponding hunk of plastic.
5 - Where's the handlebar pad/cover? Honda wouldn't dare sell something with the possibility of a rider slamming his/her chest into the clamps and suing. "Stupid Hurts", remember?
6 - Now this last one just bothers me. Nobody mentioned the CR style radiator shroud coming off it's left front fender. Look closer, that was taken from the left side and some of the CR's frame was included with it. It may say "TRX", but fact and common sense says that thing was cut right from a CR or CRF and pasted right onto this project.

Higher powers and better educated, congrads, this was fun to pick apart and I got a few laughs as well :cool: .
To all the children... there may be an easter bunny and there may be a santa clause, but he ain't here. Just patiently wait for the pics from Vegas like the rest of us.

The irony of your post is amusing...

The thing is in a aftermarket shop being fitted for aftermarket parts. To most of us that was a blaringly obvious given.

3.) You've got to be kidding?!? That's a reflection against the fork lift, not a shadow - notice the glare coming off the turned up edges -- besides, why would anyone photoshop in background clutter?

4.) See below

6.) ??? Are you talking about where the tank is missing and you can see the bottom side of the seat? Look with photoshop and magnify - if you've ever done any photoshopping you'll know immediately that you're mistaken about the logo as well.

You're way overanalyzing things - open the image in photoshop, blow it up - you'll see that this things has indeed not been hand crafted.

Take a few moments and you'll also notice that the quad is partially disassembled. The plastic is not mounted, the left side is sitting high and the tank is missing.

Why would someone taking the time to carefully photoshop this picture do so with a partially disassembled quad?

Have you ever tried to create an image like this in photoshop? In the detail this one's in - color, tone, and lighting matching - it's near impossible without spending literally tens to hundreds of hours. Trust me, myself and no one else is going to bother with "official" pics on the way tomorrow.

LMAO.....this is great:D The skeptics sure are trying hard to call bunk on this. CR shroud with piece of the bike frame?? The gas tank has been removed (maybe because it's at a place that might produce oversized tanks) and what you're seeing is the bottom of the seat pan. Yes, the bumper does have AC written all over it--that's because it's been fitted with an AC bumper. I'm really just rehashing what Gabe said here. For those of you that think various aftermarket tuners don't get a look at the new quads for parts fitment before release you are sadly mistaken. Everyone thinks it's fake because the plastic doesn't fit right. Here's a scenario for ya: all plastic and gas tank has been removed because several different parts are being installed (nerfs, new gas tank, steering stem, etc.). The plastic is then just laid on the frame and a quick pic is taken. If we all went out in our garages and removed the gas tank on our quads and then just put the plastic back on without bolting it down do our quads become fake?

Well if I am going to pay what I think they want for the trx450r, it better have nice looking plastics.

All people care on what their quad looks like, look at all the color schemes they go through to make it look cool. Why dont they make a purple banshee anymore? Cause people want it too look good. I am sure someone will come out with a hood for it, and that will probably make it look nicer.

But if thats it, I expected more from Honda, thats all.

After looking at the full size image it's obvious that the photo is a hoax. You can see that they took the radiator shroud right off Hondas cr motocross bike. If you look close you can even see a small part of the aluminum frame of the motocross bike.

400EX front end. Meaning, the EX bumper, a-arms, tie rods & ends are all the same as the new 450R. The frame has been reworked a little by Honda and it has an aluminum swingarm. The shocks imitate the YFZ450 with adjustable fronts with reservoirs. The plastic has an updated design from the current 400EX but the information we have been given is that if you are expecting something worlds apart from the 400EX you will be disappointed. If you would be happy with an EX with the 450 powerplant and updated shocks you will be pleased. Again, this information came to us from a source who has proven to be reliable in the past so this is what we are 99% sure it is going to be.

If Honda is only debuting this thing TODAY in vegas, how did AC Racing or whatever company that is get the quad before hand AND have time to grab crap together for this thing? Either way, whether i'm right or wrong, i don't want to believe this is the quad Honda is going to release. I'm off to the Yamaha dealer for a YFZ...

LMFAO, I think you got that right. Well I believe that is the trx450r, the calipers seem to be different than any hondas, and the front plastic is different than the Arctic cat , like some of you think. That picture is not photochopped at all.

But I must say, I thought the thing was gunna be state of the art and beat the yammy. Now I am realizing that it looks like honda screwed up and is gunna lose on this one. Especially when John Arens and Rico say it aint what they thought it was gunna be. I guess the YFZ will be the most common bike, unless of course the trx450r will be a similar price to the 400ex.

i can tell you im let down buy the steel frame. the subframe apears to be aluminium. but still isn't as good as the yamaha controled casting aluminium subframe. the frame looks to be very similair to the 400ex. and its got stupid cbr headlights. nice job honda!!!! quers! I could have designed that in oooooooooo about three seconds and saved them a few dollars. I bet honda saw the yfz when we did then decided to take a 400ex flop a few low budget upgrades on and see what happens..

ANYONE AGREE????

no, i heard rumors of a new crf quad before yamaha came out with the yfz....and what does the yfz really have ont eh honda...maybe 2 more horse...and in some poeples case the looks.....the honda still weighs less than any other quad....and its a honda....i think all the sudden some of you have forgotten what that is

I know first post but I had to get in on this.

I am a Yamaha owner but I like looks. I think that when other pictures come out you will see that it does not look like the Artic Cat. I also think that you guys are being a little hard on Honda with out seeing the real deal. Now, I could easily be wrong and this quad be just a beefed up 400ex but I am going to wait until I see it to be making that decision.

I think there will be a lot of red on the podiums next season. Honda made some small improvements on what's already the best frame geometry in the business (that's why Yamaha, Suzuki and all aftermarket chassis builders use it). The step forward for Honda is naturally going to be smaller than it was for Yamaha. I've stated this in another thread. Going from the Raptor to the YFZ was like going from a Mustang to a GT40. Jumping from the 400EX to the 450R is like going from a F40 to a F50. I guess I don't understand what people wanted from Honda. All aluminum frame, 50hp, EFI and triple rate shocks and a price tag of $9000. Everyone would've screamed to high Heaven. They now give you improvements to the best handling quad of all time, low-40's HP (nearly the same as Yammy) and a reported dry weight of 335lbs. On top of that you get Honda's proven reliability.

335 Lbs....looks like alot of things are gonna be crackin from teh factory if thats true. Considering a 450f weighs 223 and the quad has twice more of frame plus arms, axle, etc, etc

I didnt know you won races with the looks of your quad:rolleyes:

Its funny people here jump on and off the bandwagon so fast its rediculous. Lets wait and see how it performs when it comes out before saying the YFZ is better. Racers start winning on the new honda and everyone will jump right back on the bandwagon.
Remember people its a Honda it will perform well. will it be better than the YFZ? I dont know but we will find out thats for sure.
I have seen uglier quads out there than what we saw in those pics today. People used to say the 400EX looks like it has down syndrome and i think it looks better than most quads.

MSL I agree with you 100% I also think that the new honda out of the box will probley not be as fast as the YFZ but I DONT CARE! If I want to go super fast I will ride my R! This bike will handle great im sure.... and also I said this a year ago ( if Honda would come out with a 400ex frame and put a CRF 450 motor in it I would buy one) so Im happy right now at least they made a new quad!!! Sorry for the flame but some of the little Kids on the forums are making me MAD! lol:cool:

It weighs 10 pounds more...and thats without teh renthals and all the other stuff the 450 comes with

The nerfs, Renthals, AC Bumper, Elkas, Vise-Grips, etc. are all aftermarket and won't be on the stock bike.

Personally, I think it looks pretty close to the advance sketch Honda released a while back, and nobody *****ed about that. I doubt I'll rush out and buy one (especially not knowing dimensions, weight, power, etc.) but I'm sure it'll be a helluva quad, and I'll probably upgrade to it in a few years. . .

Now if Honda would release some official pics that showed better angles, no Vise-Grips, and maybe a yellow one, well, I'd be interested in THAT!

That didnt make any sense to me, lol, but Yamaha says the YFZ is 350, and the one that I weighed was just around 385-390 without any fluids.

ok, eiter this is photshopped or honda put the plastic on in 10 seconds. why is the plastic touching the light? and why does it stick up by the gas tank???? and why doesnt it do that on the other side???????? im at a loss i dont know if alot of people are getting together to pull a fast one or if that is the new honda with the plastic right there not on all the way?:huh

Remember people its a Honda it will perform well. will it be better than the YFZ? I dont know but we will find out thats for sure.
I have seen uglier quads out there than what we saw in those pics today. People used to say the 400EX looks like it has down syndrome and i think it looks better than most quads.
i agree how funny it is about people being on the bandwagon.it is also quite ironic that these same people who dislike the new honda were the ones crying and crying for it to come out and that they would buy one in a second if it ever came true.personally i think the 450R looks pretty damn sweet and not that much different from the 400EX.i just don't understand how people are making it out to be the ugliest thing they had ever seen.:huh
i think in reality if all these kids saw it on hondas site or in a magazine first they would be going off on how sweet it looks but majority of them had seen pics here first, thought they were only photoshoppped and decided to pic it apart because they thought it was fake and now they are too anal to admit they were wrong and that they actually like how it looks but are too big to stick their foot in their mouths.

hey,thanks for letting me know about my pic being in DW.i actually sent that pic in 2 years ago and would have never thought it would actually turn up.
i still stop by from time to time.i've been more busy with a divorce and racing my car until i had an unfortunate accident at the track when i was taken out during a run so it looks like i'll have more time for the quad.i've been stopping by more as of late to get some dirt on the 450 and will hopefully have one as soon as they come out. my new girlfriend's brother rides quads and is giving me the itch to get back into riding so it looks like i'll be stopping by more often.;)
