Maybe you should delete this post and move it to the non-honda forum.

are you talking about the shock or forks?

on my 1999 yz125, all i had to do was get a special tool that was made for compressing the rear spring, and you just turn the little sprockets above the spring until it gets lower and lower, my bike was lowered about 1 inch. when you compress the back shock to make the seat height lower, you will also stiffen the back suspension making it a little more rough. i didn't mind it, but i have only ridden my bike.

Actually it softens the ride because your are taking preload off the spring. You are probally bottoming it out making it feel stiff.

You can drop your forks in the triple clamps a little bit, say no more than 1" for most bikes. This will help some. If you need them lower, they will have to be taken to a suspension shop to be shortened.

that could have been why it felt stiffer...but how tall are you, because i started riding my yz125 when i was about 5'5, and i grew in to it and learned to love it. unless you are about 5 foot i really don't see a reason to lower it, itll be hard at first but youll do fine with it later.

Don't drop the forks to low, a buddy of mine tried that, and the first time he bottomed out his wheel hit the bottom of the fender and triple clamps and locked up and sent him flying over the bars.

dropping the forks in the trees will affect your turning and stability

you can have the springs in the forks shortened to accomodate your height along with the rear spring

you can also shave your seat foam

Can I drop the forks in the triple clamps on a 2004 CR250R 1"? Will it mess up the ride for trails and sand pits. I won't be doing much jumping. I'm just learning how to ride a racing bike and I'm only like 5,5'' and 125lbs.

if you are just learning how to ride a race bike, plus you are 5'5, 125lbs, i would not suggest a 250, try a 125 before you take the jump to 250

I know that is a big jump, but I don't have the money to buy another bike after. Its only $500cdn to get 20hp more roughly. I'm not one of those people that go out a kill them selves. I did go from a Yamaha PW80 to a 400ex.

It is going to have a ton of power, but I'm not really scare of that. I'm scared of the seat height. Also with a bigger motor I'll be in the powerband more, making it easier that way.
