I'm thinking about selling the 400ex in the spring to get a Honda Race bike. Anybody sell their quad to get a bike? I want a bike even though the Yamaha YZF450 is so sweet and the new Honda should be sweet too.

I would see how much you like the new trx or whatever and if its nothing to great or out of your price range go for a bike, I think I will be looking at a bike this spring because I can't afford a new quad so I will have to try and perswade my parents

I got into this sport because a friend taught me to ride a quad... I was trying just to learn the hand clutch so that I could buy a bike.....and ended up buying the quad. After the falls that Ive had Im glad I did not get the bike heheheheeh

I think that 400ex mom rides on the edge no matter what she's on. Sounds kinda dangerous too!

Bikes are fun, and from what I've seen most of the terrain up there is hard packed. Another guy from alberta (settler I think) is on one of the db forums I used to go on. He always had great riding pics from up there.

Get a thumper (your choice on brand and size), I've ridden bikes (much) longer then quads, In some places one is more fun to ride then the other. You can be lazy and relax on a quad in sand, but you have to stay ballz to the walls on a bike to stay upright.

If you don't have much bike riding experience, I'd start with an xr250.

Those CRF250's do look pretty sweet. I think when I get ready to buy a new bike for the 05 MX season, I'll either be lookin at another YZ250F, or a SX250F or a CRF250... I love my YZF but those two look pretty awesome too. Hell, I'll prolly take a good look at the Kawizuki's too... you really can't go wrong w/ any of them because they are all so top notch and bad@ss that their performance is really close and it all really just comes down to which bike you feel more comfortable on. For example, I'm a tall guy so the Yamaha's fit me good cause they are taller but shorter guys might like the Kawizuki's cause they are supposedly lower. Other than that, there's not a whole helluva lot of difference.

Switching from quads to bikes is kinda hard at first if you don't have any bike riding experience. It took me a little while to get used to it but now I'm faster on a bike than I ever was on a quad. The only problem w/ that is, the bike classes are a lot faster than the equal quad class (125 beg, is A LOT faster than Quad beginner or novice and even Int.). If you plan on doing some MX racing, I would go w/ the bike. Bikes just handle the tracks better.

CRF450's... those are badass bikes. I wanna take a YZ 450F for a spin too.
