rear shock

i was wondering what would be the best setup for my rear shcok. Ok i know there are two screws to turn but i dont really know what they do. And also can you turn the big nut to tighten them on the top of the shock?

I did a search on "rebond" & then "compresion" & I got alot of info from that......;) good luck.......
