I have a stock 400ex and im wanting to get a pipe for it. I have been thinking about the LTE Dual exhaust, LRD, Big Gun, Fat Boy 4, or Trinity Stage IV. I have seen the shoot outs on the other sites but i was wanting to know your guys takes on it. Thanks in advance.

There are a ton of good ones out there! I kinda favor HMF.

i would go with HMF,Sparks X4 or X6 (depending on what your doing) or LRD or Duncan. i wouldnt mess with anything else. the sparks, lrd and duncan and built by engine builders who really know how to make power. the HMF is a great system too(i think it sounds the best) dont go for the cheapest go with whos making the most power. i would call some of the companies and talk to them. dont forget to rejet and put an aftermarket air filter.

DMC's are good too, but not really a reccomendation from me- i just liked the pipe so i bought it... But anyway i'd got with either of these 4 pipes- Sparks X6, Trinity Stage4, CT racing pipe, and the FatBOy 4. ;)

Thanks for your guys advice. But does anyone know anything about the LTE Dual Exhaust. It looks pretty sweet in the picture of it and the website says you get up to 3 hp out of it. But one drawback to it is it cost $580. But oh well i want what is gonna make my atv run the best.

i've got the titanium yoshimura, i like it alot, looks good, sounds good, run's good with it and isn't as loud as some of the others. but retail is around 750 on that one

with the companies like fmf and big gun and yoshimura your souly paying for the name, and what your actually getting is a crappy product that will not boost your power significantly. imho, go with sparks, it the best pipe out there now, plus if you do get engine work done you will be really happy with it, if you want a slip on i suggest hmf, white bros, or pro circuit.if u do go with sparks get it ceramic coated it will run alot cooler and wont build heat.

ive tried a few bikes with the white bros. and another with the fmf, but i whent with the big gun on mine, it puts the power down low and in mid range. no you wont get so much top end but id rather work on the low to mid range rather then having to wait and get it to top end where it does something like any other pipe. the 400 is a real thumpy motor, good torque. you dont go off and make drag racer out of a tractor you know? (IMO)just depends what kinda terrain you ride and what youre riding style is. you pick the equipment to what kinda riding style you have and go from there. all in all, so long as youre happy with what you get is all that matters:macho

id still say use the tom carlson exhaust...its slipon and its loud and all the pro racers use the TC exhaust, creech has 1 on his crf 450....they say slip ons give better mid and lowrange and thats what you need....if u get the full system that gives too much topend and it dont pickup on the lowend and mid....TOPSPEED doesnt win races.....

how does the TC pipe do compared to the sparks or lrd?

You never said what you want to do with the bike,

If you plan to keep it mostly stock,
Get a megamaxx or something W dics for good low end & tunability.

You wont tell much difference between a used 100 dollar slip on or a 600 dollar full system if you are just puttin it on a stock bike.

If you race are or going to be doing engine work, go all out,

you u did say wanted to kow what would make your bike run the best.

But you can get a lot more power out of a stock bike with 5-6 hundred bucks & other mods than a high end full exhaust.

Well right now im just using it for trail riding but im plaining on racing in a few Missouri Hare Scrambes. At the time i dont know if im really gonna do anything to the engine because in a few years im probably gonna get the 450R.

the TC exhaust is more for race bikes his pipe is ment more for racing....if your not a serious racer and a weekend rider i wouldnt recomend a tc exhaust....tc exhaust also works better with modded motors....but the TC exhaust is nasty exhaust if you want the loudness and the power.....

All I know is that you've heard Sparks was the best pipe, performance wise. Well, the LRD Pro-4 out performed the Sparks by a pretty good margin. What I've learned was to NOT go by what a mag says or anything else. For advice, $469.00 and ceramic coating, the LRD Pro-4 is the best bang for your buck!!:D Quads do not perform exactly same but for my quad the LRD Pro-4 is the best exhaust for my quad and defintely woke it up after the Sparks was removed.:D

Dang that red pipe looks sweet.

Anybody got a pic of one installed on a red 400??
I bet that would really set it off.

i dont think i will get a LTE Dual exhaust since i have not heard anything about them. I will just get a pipe that is proven to be good.

Gotta agree, it did very well on the dyno tests, 2nd I believe..behind yoshimura...my friend has one of their pipes but whe you compare price to value...I'd take my e-series anyday. My friend also agrees...he's looking into buying an e-series :p
