i rode a 92 rm215 highly modded, and it sucked.

its all about how that band kicks in.

whoa you got into 5th i just touched the powerband in 1st or 2nd and i had enough, who the hell can use that much power,on a mx track

anyway, i had a rm 167 big bore and it was fast but didnt have the hit ud expect, 125s have as much power as our quads remember and they weigh half as much

There's life outside the MX track...

I'll agree that the CR5 is too much for a bike.. Mine would do 5th gear wheelies by just rolling on the throttle, even with me sitting as far forward on the tank as possible - should be just about right for a quad :)

i just said mx because thats what its made for...

Back "in the day" there were classes for 500 class MX bikes.

During the last decade or longer it was mainly a bike for desert racers - probably the best application for it throughout the years.

I was on a very long road...LMAO

Cr500's will put the fear of God in you before ya even click it in to 3rd....Goin up higher is probably a death wish...LOL

I remember watching the 500 class on TV. Wow, that was back in the day. I had a KX250 and that had more power than I needed. Nothing like coming out of a turn and grabbing a little too much throttle and having the rear end of the bike out in front of you. With as many times as I had that thing going the wrong direction you'd have thought I'd have just seated up on it facing backwards to begin with:eek:

I think it's just something you get used to. When I first wicked the throttle open on my 250r, it scared me My buddy tried it, and then gave me a lecture about responsibility, and that it was WAY too much power, and I should think about my family before I kill myself.

Now I have a built 340, and it STILL isn't enough. You just get used to handling the power.

I wonder if anyone ever did that conversion? It sure would be a sick quad!

I was scared to death of my '97 CR250 when I first got it, but I got used to the power pretty quikly. You just have to respect what it CAN do to you if you act like an idiot. I see Life Flight every Thanksgiving at Dumont. :( 125's are pretty quick, too, but not too fun in the sand.

That has to be the ultimate dune bike! I don't think there's much out there that could touch it.

xr 650r is supposedly the fastest production bike ever made, it tops out at 110 stock

the cr 500 i rode had a pro circuit pipe, porting and polish, carb, reeds, shaved head and some other stuff, why in gods name would anyone need that much more power
