i don't think you can blame the dealership. $1800 is GM's production cost. GM marks it up to the dealer's invoice.

I've got a new car!! I bought me a new 2004 Cavalier LS Sport Coupe. This thing is pretty sweet. It's fun to drive with the 5-speed manual trans. She get's up and goes for a little four-banger!! It gets 26 mpg city and 37 mpg highway! I was looking for a car to drive back and forth to work that was a little easier on gas and I just couldn't pass up this deal! I saved about $6000 on this car with the GM discount and all the rebates that were offered! Well I just thought I share my happiness with everyone else here!! Here are a few pics of it.

Here's something that will make you cry. My father-in-law works at the GM Lordstown plant where they make the Cavalier. They've got charts on the wall for employee productivity, accidents on the job, etc. One of the charts is final cost of building a Cavalier taking into account price of materials, labor, cost of running the plant for a 24-hour workday and all other costs. GM builds each Cavalier and sends it out the door for $1800. What do we all pay for cars again?

$1800!! Are you sure? That seams AWFUL low to me. Is that just the motor maybe? If that's true then the automaker's are real buttholes!:mad: They charge us up the ying-yang for the vehicles and it don't cost them chit to make them!!:scary: Oh, well what can you do?:ermm: I'll try to forget how much I payed, and concentrate on how much better fuel economy it gets compared to my lifted truck and how much fun it is to drive too!:blah:
