My 300 tends to vibrate from about 1/2 throttle +. The idle is kinda of rough also. I decided that i need to clean the carb because I havent cleaned it since I bought it over a year ago.

I would like to know how to clean a carb the right way and some tips on doing it.

I've found that stripping teh carb down to just metal and letting it sit in in some auto parts cleaner for about a half an hour works well. clean all of the insides you pulled out with carb cleaner and when you pull your carb out spray ever fuel passage with cleaner and re-assemble. This is jsut my .02 worht and what has worked for me.

After I spray all the parts, do i need to wipe the cleaner off, or just let dry?

You ccan let it air dry but if you want to make the process faster you can hand dry it.

on a 01 model bike you don't have anything in there that needs to soak.

Just break it down & hit it everywhere w/ carb cleaner.
Just let it air dry outside.
flip it & let it sit on each side for a while so all the cleaner'll come out.

The point of soakin it in parts claner is to get all the stuff that cant be cleaned easily with carb cleaner. Some build up in the fuel passages takes more than a couple shots of carb cleaner to clean.
