Math is messed up

Ok well


3 chicks go to a hotel it costs 30 bucks they each throw in 10 bucks then go to their room....The ladie realized they payed to much because it was a speciat they were supposed to pay 25 so the bell man guy took the 5 and went up to the room....on the way up he couldnt figure out how to divide it evenly so he took 2 bucks and put it in his pocket....then each guy a dollar....



so technicly they each payed 9 bucks right??



9 X 3 = 27 WTF??30-27 =3 but the bell guy only took 2 so where does that extra dollar come from?:confused:

no ur figuring it out wrong. 30-2 the doorman took. So that is 28. Now minus the 3 that the chicks got it equals 25. You never subtracted the dollar each that the chicks get.:blah:

It's how you set up the problem... if you set it up wrong, you get the wrong answer.

10-1=9
9*3= 27
27-2=25

You're saying...

9*3=27
27+2=29

But you don't add 2 dollars cause thats being taken away.

The way the problem should be set up...

3(10-1)-2=25

The way you set it up...

3(10-1)+2=29

NO they each payed 10 bucks but then thet are supposed to get 5 back but the guy who was takeing it back only gave eaco of the 3 one dollar back because it was easier than dividing 5 into 3....so if in the begining they payed 10 - the 1 they get back is 9 and 9 by 3 people is 27 dollars

They pay $30 dollars first. The owner of the hotel has $30. He gives them back $5 but the bellboy takes $2. Thats $3 for the renters and the bell boy has $2. Thats $25 for the hotel owner, $2 for the bellboy and $3 the renters got back because of the special. There is no missing dollar. The math you do 9x3 = 27 + 2 = 29 has nothing to do with this. Reason being is that when you pay the 9 x 3 you are not getting back the 3 dollars for the special. ( thats the difference from [10 x 3 = 30 to 9 x 3 = 27] [30 - 27 = 3]) You are just subtracting the $2 the bellboy took which is $25 total. If you look at it when you have the special it does add up to $25 and when you look at it as total money it adds to $30 bc the bellboy stole $2 and there is $3 in there pockets. Confusing but thats how it works.
