sounds like a pretty good setup, after u get that finished and if ur looking for power i would reccomend a 416 kit.

i probally would do a piston at the same time your doing a cam. i just completed a similar set up as your thinking of doing. i did stage 2 cam, ross 86mm piston (10.8:1), thinner head gasket, x-6 pipe, jetted and uni filter. it is a lot faster than a stock bike. i am wondering if you should get stage 1 if your not doing a piston. i probally wouldn't even put a cam in unless i was doing a piston at the same time. it sounds like a really good set up if you got the piston. also, i wouldn't waste your money on a jet kit. just buy individual jets at the dealer. good luck

I would do the piston for sure, go 10.8.

Then if you come up on some extra cash for $250 you can have your heads ported, then you would have a good matched motor.

If you dont want high compression cause of the higher octane, you could just keep the piston stock, get the stage 2, and port the heads.

If you're not going to do the piston, I would think about buying an XR400 head gasket ($13 from service honda) and a stage 1 cam. The thinner gasket will bump your compression ratio up a little. The reason I say stage 1 vs. 2 is because the stage 1 actually has more valve lift than the stage 2, but shorter duration, meaning the valves close sooner. The shorter duration will give the piston more time to build compression on the compression stroke. Swapping out the gasket is only another 4 nuts when you do the cam.

416 sounds pretty tempting...what octane would i have to run with a 10.8:1 or an 11:1 ration and whats a good place to get a 416 kit from.....thanks joe

10.8:1 can run on 93 pretty easily. My Wiseco 11:1 runs fine on 93 unless I go to the dunes or ride hard on a really hot day, then it's at least 50/50 race. ProFab did mine because I wanted the Carrillo rod installed, but if you're a decent mechanic with a decent set of tools, you can do everything on the top end except the machine work and save some money.

i agree, do the top end yourself. i just did mine without ever doing one before. just get a manual and you will be fine. every once in a while an extra set of hands will help out, but its not hard getting someone to help you for a minute or two. i have a 10.8:1 piston with thinner head gaskets and i can actually run on 92 octane just fine. i usually always get the 93 though.
