i know that an aftermarket cdi box kicks the rev limiter up, but id like to know what exactly does it do, what the diffrences are between makers, is there really any gains from an aftermarket one?? i need a little more kick in power for 400, but dont want to wipe out my desert trip funds at the same time....... any suggestions anyone????? thanks.

I dont recommend the CDI at all. It really only gives you another 1000 RPM but its not use to you when you motor has already passed its peak horsepower output. I have a 416 and dont need it and that thing takes the rpms up there too. You can do a 416 and cam yourself for about $350 bucks. I recommend that if you want some power. I did it and it was the best thing I ever did to my machine.:macho :muscle:

i agree, i wwent with the 416 as well. did a couple of other things like port it and it runs great. i have the wb cdi as well though.. did all my work at once so i couldnt tell you what affect the cdi had on with all the mods.
