I have a JE 10.8:1 piston, a stage 1 hot cam, and a sparks timing advance key coming. Also Ive got a gasket kit coming that should bump me up to 11.2:1.(thats what the C&D racing guy said) Ive got a full yoshi pipe and run with no airbox lid. Does anyone else have this setup the anticipation is killing me and I'm wondering how much more powerful shes going to feel.

im just hopping ill be able to get into faster and pull harder in 3rd gear for jumps where you dont have alot of room to get speed.

Beef up the clutch while your at it,its like having turbo once you learn how to "feather" the clutch.

Hey brianc400,
Did you get your parts from C&D, if so how much were they?
Are you doing the work yourself, if so have you been in the top of a 4 stroke before. Curious, because I'm thinking of beefing my 400 up if I can't talk the wife into letting me get the 450.
Thanks,
JB

the cam, piston, and gasket kit will probally run around $285 or so. just get a service manual and you can do the work yourself. i just did mine and i have never been inside an engine before. its not hard with the manual.

Ill know on monday how much everything is going to be. For the timing advance key, piston kit, cam kit, gasket set, and some jets it will be about 325 bucks(frieght included). As far as tearing into the motor goes im borrowing a honda service manual from my buddy and learning as I go. I been this far into a honda four stroke before but I think I'll do fine.

the power increase is pretty nice. is not bad. if you are installing a hotcam, just remove the spring and plunger. it will show you where this is at when you read the manual. also, you won't use any of the decompression mechanism off your factory cam when using a hotcam. good luck

Ya my 400 is primarily a trail bike so I figured the least radical cam would be the way to go. If I dont like it I'll sling the stage 1 on ebay for 50 bucks and try a stage 2.

You're setup is similar to mine. Except I'm running a Stage II Hot Cam. Mine made 33.5 RWHP on KENZ dyno 2 weeks ago. It was not very ideal conditions though(107 degree's and 45% humidity). Your's should make around the same RWHP in ideal conditions(59 degree's less than 10% humidity), since you are using a slightly less radical profiled cam. My 416 easily outruns most stock Raptor's and Banshee's and has beaten all piped Z400's its come up against. For reference, a Yoshi piped Z400 made 29 RWHP that same day on KENZ dyno. You should be happy with your set up. Provided you were looking for mostly a bottom to mid gain.
