Anybody know anyone who has put an xr650 motor in a 400ex frame?

i read on here that someone saw one at the dunes with one....try doin a search..........i would think that it would rattle like a mofo!:blah:

Just kinda exploring different ideas. I have a 400ex(all-most a rolling chasis) frame and trying to decide what motor to put in it. Probably end up putting 250r motor in it. You can find them a lot cheaper the crf450 or xr650r motors.

yep it has been done

we have the engine in our garage.....it was from the 650 ex baja quad that , wes, harold goodman, tim farr, ........rode in 2000 baja race........its in the mags somewhere.........its for sale if you guys want it!!!!!

use a xr600 motor, there are tons of parts for them, they never changed, they have more torque than a garbage truck and there is no liquid cooling stuff to worry about fabbing mounts for.

not to mention, unless your racing desert or other wide open space types races, xr650's run pretty hot, you got to stay on the gas going fast to keep them cool, really there just not designed for the tight woods.

everyone says use a 450 its lighter with same power. ive had the chance to run a yfz 450 all over/ its a kids bike compared to a 600ex. ya it beats against the rev box, but what good is that when its 40 feet back? as for the weight the xr600 all said and done is almost the same as the 400 with starter.. dont worry about raptors predators or gas gas 300 either!
