Is it possable to bolt the yfz shocks right up to a stock 400ex?

The shocks are both 16.25 long. They will bolt up but the valving will not be correct. :)

Colby, would the shocks be soft because the yfz is only 350 pounds?

I don't think they will bolt up.......

I have a YFZ and a 400EX, and the shocks on the YFZ are about the same length (I think the YFZ, were a little shorter than the Stock 400ex's) but the upper shock mount width on the YFZ if I remember correctly was .5+ inches wider than the 400ex shock shock mount width, and it wouldn't fit properly inside the frame. I'll have to re-check this out to make sure I am correct, but I was wanting to put my stock YFZ suspension on my stock 400 and with just measuring it didn't look like it would work.

That would be awsome for all us poor folk! Just think, the first thing all those rich kids are going to do is swap their stockers with some Axis or Elkas. E-Bay will probably be flooded with fully adjustable stock front shocks, we just have to make them work.:bandit:

Little rich kids? Dude I got my shocks for free pretty much. I got it with one of my 400ex. Stripped the parts off it, and sold it for $100 less than I bought it for. Now I have about $3000 worth of Aftermarket parts all for that small $100. You just have to know how to buy and sell ;) But Now I am selling my shocks and getting a LT front end.. guess I have to do some more wheeling and dealing :o

The valving would be so jacked up on those things even if they did fit.

a couple of you say the valving would be off but how so? How do you think this would negativly effect the quad, please explain in detail what the valving does, thanks

Seeming how the yfz weighs less, if you put them on a 400ex, the shocks would be to soft and u'd bottom them out fairly easy. Prolly would be worse then using stock 400ex shocks:ermm:

Yup, thats right crazy400exman, My dad taught me the art of buy and sell LOL. Its pretty easy. All you have to do is save up like $3000 for starters. Then you will always beable to buy a quad take the parts sell it and get that money back out. I usually try and find ones that need a bit of work. mostly because I can do the work myself. I will be doing this with cars too. Find one really cheap and just sell it for more.

The YFZ's arms are wider, though, so it's shocks should actually be a little stiff on the 400 if anything.

If you can cut a new top mount or something to make them work it is worth it. They are better than stock 400 shocks even on a 400
