I just got a K&N fore my 400ex(#HE-4099). It's not going to fit:mad: . The end that goes to the carb is all steel not rubber like the stock. All the info I can get tells me that this is the right p/n. Can any one tell me what I'm missing?:huh

I don't know if that part number is right or not, but my K&N is the same way, all metal. It just slides into the rubber intake boot and you have to put the clamp on. Thats it.

The Part Number from Rocky Mountain is HA-4099. It should fit. Mine is like ROCK`N400`s is.

Mine has the same part number. It fits fine. What doesn't fit?

There is no rubber boot in my air box. The stock filter is rubber on the end that conects to the air box. the air box is solid plastic where the filter hooks on. did they change the air box from 99 to 2000? If I'm still not making sence I will post pix.

That`s how mine is too. That Metal on the K&N Filter slides in to the Rubber Hole in the AirBox. Then you clamp the Filter down.

yep, just slide it in their then clamp it down with the big hose clamp they gave you, and your set!

In Picture 3 there is a Hole in the AirBox. The Metal Part on the K&N Air Filter slides in to that Hole and then a Clamp goes around it.

The hole in the air box is solid plastic not rubber and a full 1/8- 1/4 of an inch larger than the end of the filter. It's not even a close fit around the flange on the filter.

Ok. It`s Solid Plastic. The Metal end of the K&N should slide into that Hole. Now, you take the Metal Clamp they gave you and Clamp the Flange down on to the Filter. Does anybody have any Pictures they can show him? Mine was not this hard.

You should look into cleaning your air box too.

Went out & measured my K&N filter for you. The part that slides into the tube is 3 inches across. mine slipped right in snugly & I put the clamp around. very easy. looks like you've had alot of water in your airbox, be careful about that, bad news. oh yea the tube is made of hard rubber. Let us know what happens.
