the kind of shoes your wearing matters too. certain ones make your feet rest on the foot pegs differently. for example, when i wear a pair of adidas shoes i tend to miss 2nd a lot.

It happens when shifing from 1st to second you only give it a half click up instead of a full click. Happens to the best of us..just make sure to give it a good solid click from 1st to 2nd..its the only spot you can hit neutral.

you have to becaful. I had this problem last year and it result in 600 dollar in tranny parts. The best way to solve this problem is with a good afetr make shifter. When you miss shift and get a false neutral and you hear that grinding noise thats the dogs on the gears grinding. After a while they start to wear out and it becomes harder to shift and you end up having more miss shifts which cause the the gears to wear even faster. When I did a search and did some research I found out this is kinda of a hidden problem with the tranny of the 400ex. Its nothing new and it has happen to alot more poeple than i though. it always happen when you shift into second or shifting out of second.

when you put the shifter on there are grooves. i just put mine in the next groove so that its down a lil more. so when your foor is under it its kinda already resting on it and when you shift you almost always shift up into 2nd. this always happends to me when doing wheelies too even witht the shifter moved down. i hit neutral when in a wheeile

last year I had a bad problem with shifting from 2an to 3rd mainly on starts.

The after market shift is strong and doesn't allow any flex. The stock flex alotnot allow a ggod shift.
