Isn't it sad when the parts guys at some of the dealer ships give you a chain for the stock bike that is to small. The 300ex and 400ex are the only ones with chains in all of the Honda line.:(

the dennis kirk catalog said it was 100 so I went outside and counted them it was 94:eek2: but that makes me wonder if this guy had a 92 why didn't he just count the other two links when he tried the chain :huh

100% its 94 links. If you have stock gearing and stock length swingarm 94 fits perfect and leaves a lot of adjustment left. I bought a 96 and it was to long even on the tightest setting and a 92 is to short. Also i counted my links on the stock chain. Dont listen to the mags that say 104, 100, 96 etc... Im 100% its 94

he is correct....and if you watch ebay youll see they sell a chain thats supposed to fit a 400ex a R 300ex and 250x.....
its a 96 link chain.... ..which will work but once it stretches it will have to be replaced sooner.

It is better to be too long than too short. When I bought mine I bought it on ebay and it was a new chain for a warrior (96 links) because it was for a warrior no one bid on it. I bought it because the only difference between a 400ex chain and the warrior chain was that the warrior was two links longer. It isn't that difficult to cut a chain to length.
