Does a 250x have a rev limiter? Does it kick in at the same RPM as the 300ex?

i know that when i ride my freinds 300ex i constantly hit the rev limiter, i cant stand to ride, i like to ride hard and rev the $hit out of my quad and i have the 250x and i never hit it. 250x do rev way higher, i think like 1500 or something

I agree the rev limiter sucks. But I don't think a 250x revs any higher than a 300ex. I called pro-fab the other day trying to get the rev limiter mod done to my box. They said they no longer offer that service due to rods snapping. They told me that the 250x,300ex motor will only withstand about 800-1000 rpm over the stock rev limiter before the motor gets shucked. They said they used to offer it because it was a race quad back in the day. But there were too many people getting the rev mod on stock quads and snapping the rod then blaming the break on them. The problem with the 300 is you can raise the rev limiter like the 400ex's. You can only remove it, and if the motor is pretty stock and you miss a shift they say the motor will go. My friend has been running a sparks rev box for years though and never had any problem, so believe what you want. All I know is what I was told by pro-fab, also i don't believe anybody is offering the rev mod anymore. Pro-Fab said spraks may still be doing but have plans to end it soon.
