what does it take to bore things out like a carb?
also whats the max rpm on a stock 400ex?

I believe the max rpm on a stock 400ex is somewhere around 9,000 rpms

9300 rpms is when the stock rev limiter cuts out

i would not bore the carb out yourself. rockyridge does it for $125. i personally would not take out the choke. i did and its back in now. starting is not an issue once you get your carb tuned. but, i believe i lost some top speed with it out. some people think i am nuts, but thats my opinion. i don't know if they will bore the carb out and still leave the choke in. i don't even know if it is possible.

i took my choke out, and i thought it had better response :confused:

I will be boring my carb out this weekend - I will let you know how it goes!!! :) You will need a dremel tool with some different bits to get this done......

when i took my choke out, i thought throttle response was good too, however i think i lost some top end power. i know it wasn't jetting because i tried several jets without any success. it may just be in my head, but i have heard of this before too.
