How far can a 440 sleeve be bored out to? I have been smoking lately and just got the valve seals & valves replaced?any other ideas on why im smoking at start up and the smoke doesn't become visible when its warm?

well it could be rich, check your plug it should be a chalky grey color. if its a charchol black thats means its to rich and then thats what is causeing it to smoke when its cold and barely become visibly when warm.

Also oil burns blueish when it comes out the exhuast. if its black smoke comming out then its too rich.

How many times a 440 can be bored depends on how thick the sleeve is that was installed. I think Wiseco uses thinner sleeves so theres little room to bore it again.

with most people it is the seals that give them problems when it burns on start up. i know you said you just replaced the seals. were they installed correctly?

I have a machine shop install them along with new valves and a three angle valve job. Didn't get it back yet..just didn'twanna put the motor back together and it still smokes:rolleyes:

i would think it would be the seals then. it should smoke all the time if it was the rings. however, it may not be a bad idea to hone it out and replace the rings if your digging into the engine.

I'm considering it, but I have no more than 15 hours on this set of rings. I was just broken in. It started to smoke before I put the 440 in...
