Whare did everyone get their carbs? Does anyone still have the thumb throttle? Any thing that would be needed besides the carb and cable?

thanks

I got mine from C&D Racing and still use the thumb throttle but had to buy a different cable for it. They do make a different screw for easier adjustment which is also recommended but not needed. It would be up to you to spend the extra $20 for the screw:D

I did the same. C&D has a good price. They also have the fuel screw and cable. :D

Got mine for $350 off of Ebay. Setup by Sparks with a cable, and baseline jetting. The guy bought it, and never put it on for some reason; it was brand new. I just had to tweak the jetting a little bit, but otherwise it is perfect. Nothing else is needed with the carb besides a cable, but it will usually be setup, depending on who you get it from. Shop around a bit. :)

I got mine from C & D Racing also. I got the cable, the carb (which was pre-jetted to my mods), and the air\fuel mixture screw for about $440. I have not had to adjust the jetting at all since I got it. I have had it for about 5 to 6 months with no problems.

H-W did you do the carb seperate from your other mods? If so how much did it improve the performance? Do you know what the stock comp. ratio is, or is 10.5 to 1 stock?

thanks for the info

Stock compression on a 400ex is about 9.2 to 1. Yes, I put the carb on after I had already done everything else. It felt like the carb, by itself, made just as much of a difference as everything else put together. But, that is probably not true. It did make a huge difference by itself, though. The carb felt like it gave me better bottom, mid, and top end.

I would aggree with H-W Putting on that carb made a big difference from low to top end with a much better throttle responce. If you get one you won't be disapointed. First time you open it up will be like :D :D :D :D :D
