hard shifting 250ex when cold

anyone else with a 250ex (autoclutch) have problems shifting when it's cold? I would start it and it would get into 1st with no problem, but sometimes it would have a hard time getting into 2nd and above.. just feels like the clutch isn't engaging... but after about 2 mins of riding slowly in first, then it shifts smooth as butter.. any ideas?

I've experienced that also. But I also get that with my 300 4x4. May just be a quirk of autoclutches.

Same here. Mine goes away after the first shift.

i can shift smooth as butter if its cold or not.my dads has no problem either hes got a trx300.

i am running 10w40 oil and i am in california... coldest it gets here is 40-50F at night... think that is still an issue? should i run thinner oil or no big deal and just warm it up first before i ride?

Mine sticks when I get in first and hit 3rd but then it aight. I dont have trouble when its warm, just when its cold. See, some cars dont wanna shift when they are cold right? Why not with a quad? ;)

Thats fine with the oil its just cause its alittle cold so it is thick.

I could be wrong but thats what I think it is.

I would think that too because usuelly the oil warms up pretty quick so I think I would try a lighter oil.

Id leave it alone if it goes away after a minute or two. if you run thin oil then when it heats up it's like the consistancy of water.

i guess it is ok.. i will leave it alone.. i just wanted to make sure something wasn't really wrong with my quad.. i mean i know older cars do that, but i'd be concerned if my brand new car did it..
