I would reccomend the Sparks 440 National Kit or you could go with one of thier 416 kits but with these high perf motors comes a high bill:p

I have the wiseco 440 kit, 11:1 compression. with an HRC cam...wow this thing pulls strong..the HRC is kinda expensive tho

I think mine was around $180 but that doesn't include boring the jug for the sleeve tho, I think all in all it cost me about $380?

well here's what you can expect if you buy the 440.....it's gonna run HOT so you will need to add a larger oil tank and maybe some air scoops. then to get the most out of these motors you will need to add a cam, depending on what cam you use you may need to add hardned rocker arms and heavier valve springs, open your airbox, you also should buy a larger carb like the FCR 39MM, then you are also gonna need a larger exhaust system to let the air flow out, then your gonna need a stronger clutch to hold all the extra power.....to do it right it's gonna set you back a couple grand. even then i don't think it will be a reliable as a stock motor. i don't meen to burst your buble but they are alot of $$$ and they're not that reliable.

I don't mean to argue, but I have run a 440 for a while now......I did all that, except the carb - and that's getting fixed soon......actually, I have been running this on a stock oil cooler (I know....bad bad bad) - but I change my oil VERY frequently! I race it/ride it all the time - and it's been to the dunes quite a few times since I installed the kit.......and so far it's maintained it's reliability just fine. I have a JE piston and LA sleeve....11:1 compression with a WB Track cam - stock rockers...with a Dirt Digger clutch/Barnett basket.

I think I've stated this before, but as long as you don't go all out and get some really high compression ratio, you change your oil religiously (I run Mobil synthetic- good stuff!), and you spend the money for some race gas......a 440 kit can be very reliable.

Just my .02! :)

Daam 400grl are you as cute as the picture? Anyways......i have to agree that some 440's are reliable. It just so happens that i had bad luck with all 3 of mine before i finally went back to the stock bore..........That's why they call me 3x440ex ;)

I have a Duncan Racing National 440 kit that pulls super strong and has had no prolems, oh yeah it is 12.5:1 compression

How much $$$ have wraped up in that Dunkan motor including any cooling mods?......i just don't want this guy to think a 440 kit is only gonna cost around $380-$400

o i know i cost like $2000-$3000 but if it is reliable it pays for it self in the end but if its not i will buy a 416 or 426

Here's what I would do if I were you, JMO tho. Buy the 440 piston and sleeve, Buy an HRC cam..let me explain why. The HRC is designed to run with the stock valve springs and rockers. Even though the cam is around $300 1. It'swell worth it 2. You do actuallysave $ by not having to buy new valve springs & hardened rocker arms. As far as a carb goes, im still running the stock one, but I am planning on replacing it soon with an FCR39mm, heardnothing but good things about them. A header pipe is a good idea, but it won't hurt the motor if you don't get it. The stock headers are pretty high flow from what I understand. I would recommend a slip on pipe tho. I am still running the stock clutch with no problems( I have the hinson basket & ebc clutch pads & springs waiting to be put in). Other than the starter just going, my 440 has been pretty reliable with the stock oil tank(planning on upgrading) but sense it is running on the warm side, not enough to make me worried..if you don't ride extremely hard you probably can keepthe stock tank and change your oil more often. Someon please correct me if I am wrong, hope this helps.

if you are really wanting to competitivly race and want the most HP you can get call FDO their 440's but out around 49 hp. It will cost quit a bit but no near as bad as some other national builders. They custom build motors so you can get it as calm or as pumped up as you want. 740-967-1078

If you build a 440 put in the bigger headbolts in while your at it. If you run race gas you won't have a heat problem.

I have a 440 kit (see below) I have no problems keeping it cool on a stock oil tank and it gets in the 100's here during the day and the high 90's at night. I do run a 50/50 race fuel though. Most of my riding is in sand balls out. One thing that i did do is rig up a DC fan and put it in front of my oil cooler. I don't know if it really helps but like i said i have no cooling problems. And one good peice of advice is change your oil often(it really does help).
