In your opinion and experiences, what exhaust set up do you find the best for the 400ex and what is the aprox. cost?? Thanks!

There isn't really a "best" pipe, because it will depend on what type of riding you do, whewre you want the power most, and what other mods you have made to the engine.

For example, the Big Gun exhaust I have is a good pipe, but it is more of a bottom end pipe. If I raced MX w/ it, I'd be in good shape, but I ride desert & dunes, so I would actually prefer to shift the powerband towards the top end (since the EX already has plenty of bottom end), and a different exhaust would help with that.

As a general rule, the engine builder's exhausts are the bets though (LRD, Sparks, etc.)

alright....well what would you suggest for someone who trailrides and just fools around, some hillclimbs, ya know stuff like that???

trail riding stock 400 get a Sparks x-4.

Just a thought but if your mostly trail riding then you may want to think about one the the disc type silencers.

They will let you adjust the amount of exhaust flow to your liking (less discs =more bottom more disc=more top etc) and there are some excelent quality ones out there.

Look into the "orig" 4" supertrapp, fmf magamax, WB e-series and a host of others.

I currently run the fmf and its fine performance wise but its getting old and is showing its age etc. but has held up OK and only been welded once or twice, did I mention its pretty cheap compared to the others :)

I do mostly trail riding, hill climbs at gravel pits, some riding on the track and I have the wb e-series. The one complaint I have is one of the mounts broke and I haven't even had it for 1 summer
