Just wondering what the pro's and con's of a rev kit are. I see they gain you 1000 rpm's compared to stock. Does anyone have one?

There's a lot of controversy with what they do better and are they worth it. For the most part if you have a stock engine they are pretty usless. The stock engine is done making power byt he time you hit the rev limiter normaly, and with 1000more rpm, its way past peak power. If you have some mods and feel the rev limiter is kicking in to quick, then get the limiter.

Any dyno will show no power increase with a rev box. For one I like knowing that if i crack mine WOT and literally hold it WOT my piston's not gonna come up between my legs and blow ma jimmies off..

I had one and sold the mofo..:ermm:

Ok, wont get one...I dont have a stock motor though. Its got a 10.5:1 compression piston in it. Filter, pipe and jets. I was just hoping it was a cheap gain. thanks

the ones specifically made for the trx400ex should not make it harder to start. i got a sparks box and it actually seemed to start easier. it gave me a little top speed on a stock motor. if you had a cam, it may be beneficial.

i had my rev limiter removed from my stock cdi but you just got to be careful and highly recommend stiffer valve springs.
