How do you determine what year a 250r motor is?
I am trying to buy a clutch but there is a part number for 86-87 & 88-89 and this thing has been peiced together out of so many different quads its hard to say what year it is.
There is a tag on the engine that has the numbers 00-11-33.

I have also noticed that some of the clutch part numbers match up with the part numbers for a 400ex clutch will the ex clutch interchange?
Thanks

All of the clutch parts for the R's are the same. They did some updates or changes, but you can switch parts from one year to the other. The baskets, hubs, springs, plates, steels, and pressure plates are the same. The nettle bearing are different but if you get all of the peices for that year it will switch to the other year.
Can't help you no the numbers. But if you take the side clutch side cover off you can tell by if there is a spacer or collar on the kick starter shaft. The 86/87 are different from the 88/89 One had the sollar on the shaft abd the other had it built into the case, but I can't remember which was which. Need help from someone else.
