i think the z is like 3-4 mph faster i think u can buy a front 16 tooth sprocket to even it with a z but im not sure anyone kno if i am correct

The Z has reverse and is liquid cooled which both help in the woods.

if i had to do over....and choose between a z and ex...i'd pick the ex easily....z has weak frames and thats a big problem if you ask me. even when reinforced they snap:(

the z has better motor, but the frame is weaker, i would definatly take a 400ex over a z.

they're stronger on the 2004. i heard 400ex frames arent that strong either. niether machine was ment for mx racing.

You are exactly right both of these machines can be raced but are meant for the trails.

dont be so quick to believe that. my friend talked to a suzuki rep and asked that very question, and the guy said theres no reason to improve the frame becuause its fine as is. what reason do i have to lie?

i would just go with a yzf 450 or the new honda coming out in the 1st place. when i saw the video of tim from fmxquads.com when he cracked his frame, i was really dissapointed to see that happen to a z 400 so easily.

aim mxcrf450rider and ask for yourself. he has a z400 (which is for sale), that the frame bent on him. he called suzuki to see the status of his order for a new frame, and while talking to them he asked about the frames, and what i said in my previous post is what the guy said.

nooo neither was meant for racing but, the 400ex frame is ALOT stronger, you can get 1-3 seasons of mx out of a 400ex frame properly gusseted and touch up the welds every winter, the z 400 frames people havebeen gettin on on the track 1 time and have major problems with the frames breaking, i read on one site atv connection maybe that a 400ex and a z 400 hit head on and the ex broke some upper a arms and it destroyed the z 400 frame:p what does that tell you

Theres not a huge diffrence , The Z probably has better potential because of the liquid cooling and such.

well it is extra weight, but it dosent matter cause the z weighs less anyway

how the hel| you gonna take the reverse off? that sounds like the benifits wouldnt out-weigh the rewards.

im not tryin to flame, yes the z would be lighter if it had no reverse, but face it, it has reverse. There are +'s and -'s to reverse. idk, sometimes i like not havin it for weight savings, then i hate NOT having it

383 wet for z, 392 wet for the 400ex

why take reverse off? save 5-10 pounds for what? thats the dumbest thing i ever heard. buy a race quad like the new honda if thats what u wanna do.
