300EX Black Box Mods - Downsides?

I have been looking into some mods for my 300EX and plan to start with a full exhaust system. I have been reading that in order to take full advantage of the pipe, I'll need the CDI to be modified to increase the rev limit. However, I read on Powrolls web site that it doesn't do anthing accept put the motor at risk.

Any thoughts on the mod, what it really does and how risky it is?

i sent my black box to profab racing and had it modified...i think they are good to have if u race and keep the motor reved alot..mine never gave me a problem
