my dads on a security kick, and hes sayin that aol instant messenger can obtain crap from our computer so hackers can get into it...does anyone know of any problems like this on AIM?????:confused:

ive been using it for about 3 years now, and no problems. yet he still is wacked about it:huh

AIM is the least secure of the messengers and can allow you to be hacked, but the only way to get a virus would be via a 'direct connect'. Most skilled hackers won't attack ports opened by AIM..

I'm not sure...but I would think that if u directly connected with someone...and they send u an .EXE file...then it COULD contain a virus...so u just wouldn't accept the file unless u really trust the person. And then I've heard of some trojan that a person would directly connect to u and then they get your AIM password or something? I know thats not a trojan..but it kinda is for AIM.
