My chain is making a racket

It seems to be the spacers in the center of the links that are really loose

So when the chain gets moving it makes a Very annoying noise

Time for a new chain?

Mine did that for awhile. Try lubing up every link in the chain, dont just get it rolling and start spraying in the direction. Take your time and spray every link good. Also it helps for the kind that dosnt fly off-PJ1 makes some.-darren

are you guys sure its just not the chain rubbing on the case saver? if you have a 16 tooth front or if your chain is loose, this could happen.

Thanks for the Responce guys

I was thinking it was the case saver but I removed it and went for a slow ride .....Same thing (I have 14T sprocket also)

It is the Actuall spacers in the Chain ...aka ...the part that litterally goes in the teeth of the sprocket

They are all loose ..I can jiggle them with my finger

I will get a picture tomorrow so we can all get on the same page :)

Mine does it too. I always figured it was the chain rollers down there.

If its the origanal chain on your 2000 400ex it is more than likely worn out. If the rollers are really loose you should buy a new chain

Ya....once you see those rollers get loose its time for a new one. All the factory grease has escaped the chain and wore the pins and rollers. If you ride pretty often in normal terrain like everyother weekend, you should replace your chain and sprockets once a year.
Replace the chain and the sprockets in a set. Putting a new chain on old sprockets or new sprockets on an old chain will wear the new parts quickly.

yah..i think mine is rolling on the swi ngarm skidplate :o i keep tightining it up & it comes loose immediately. Im gonna get a new chain. Is it worth the extra money or anything to get one of those gold DID xrings? or should i just get regular? should i also change out the sprockets too?

Yes, the X-Ring chains are one of the best chains on the market! No matter what you get, make sure it has x-rings or o-rings!
