i was wondering if i should get a 250r or a 400ex.
i can spend around $3500-$4000 but once i get a quad i can't use the rest of the money for mods really so i was wondering what quad i should get.

i want the 250r or the 400ex to be able to keep up with 2 basically stock banshees and a 440ex. i like the 2 stroke power and speed but i like the 4 stroke reliability.

Depends on what kind of riding you mainly do. Woods? Get a 400. Dunes? Get the R. With the R, you've got a frame that is most likely fatigued, and has probably been fixed before due to cracks.

A 400 will smoke your friends Banshees in the woods. Smooth controllable power.

why do you assume a 400 is going to be better? trails are mostly rider skill. banshee vs a 400ex, the 400ex is more top heavy and has less ground clearance. the 400 is better because its 4stroke but wouldnt count out the shee.

also the r engine is roun 14 years old, it will ned a rebuild proably, if u riden th woods, get the ex, its power is more for wood,

Gshee, he said stock Banshee. A stock one is a handful in the woods. They love to spin! My friend had one, and to make it very fast in the woods, he went with single pipe and carb. Just my opinion/observation. In racing, another friend of mine got a Banshee, and yes we were about the same in skill. My 300EX would whip it in tight woods.
