Within the next few days, I am going to be picking up my new project. The motor is an '86 LRD265R, everything on it is stock, and in peices. I sorted through everything, and all the parts are there. It has a +2 axle, Doesnt have a sticker on it the guy says its either a durablue or RPM. I am hoping RPM.

The frame is in excellent condition, no cracks or bends. It has a few gussets on it.

Now I am going to be racing it next season. I want to know what will be my best bet on a long travel front-end. Gibson, laeger, lonestar, roll design, JRD, JD ?? Give me some advice, for suspension I am gunna run Elka, PEP, or Axis. Money will decide that. I want a front end that will be awesome, but at a good price. Keep in mind I am only 16, fairly agressive rider.. I can keep up with pros around here, I have to pay for everything myself, so that will determine the outcome. Although I have from now until spring to save.

There are a few nuts and bolts missing, So my best bet is buying a bolt kit for it off of E-bay. Could you please give me some tips on the mods I should do to the chassis to get it ready for the season. I have standard travel elkas on my EX, but I think a long travel front end will be the best money in the long run, so I dont have to buy it later on.

Thanks in advance.

laeger/PEP or axis front end. Also if you want pep order them now. When you get them you will have enough saved. They ship them C.O.D

how much does a 19" set of pep cost.. I was also wondering if getting a used set would be better, as long as its vavled for what I want. How much is a laeger's LT.. I am thinking +3 +1. Also with a no link set up in the rear, would I have to modify the frame ? I am just wondering because I am deciding on different set-ups. That way I will know what I want and how much I have to save.

If you have the money get a Laeger/Axis setup instead because you will get the Axis sooner.

I would check with C&D for the best price.

Well i say, JRD and either axis or pep. the JRD a arms are exactly like roll, but tons cheaper. and with the money you save on the a arms you can buy better shocks.

400MXer- You dont like your laeger set-up ??I dont really feel like waiting years and years for PEP:grr: , So I might bite the bullet when the time comes and get Axis ?

Yeah, i love my laegers and my peps. very solid......BUT they are not long travel. I've ridden tons of long travel bikes and love them to death. If you got the bread, get the laeger T-Pin, it's an awsome front end. The one i rode was very smooth....I will be either building a CRF bike or buying one already built. If i build one...it will pry be JRD stuff. because of the prices, and i've talked to the JRD guys at nationals, and a few other people that have JRD bikes and they couldn't be happier.

Will SS brakelines for a 400ex, mount onto a 250R, with +3 +1's the lines are +3 for the 400ex.

Best investment Dollar for Dollar

850.00 - JRD long travel +3" arms
800.00 - PEP's / Elka's/ TCS all good setups....
-----------------
1,650.00 +/-

It's hard to beat the time proven "gull wing" arms and any of these 3 shocks for an investment of 1,650.00 +/-
