My friends 400ex has a stripped head bolt on top of his motor, and he said it is leaking exuast. He is going to take it to our bike shop, which is the worst for fixing problems in the WORLD. I was woundering if he could just put some of that sealant in there that forms into a casket, and rethread the bolt, or does he need a new head? Please help!

Its worth a try, but I have a feeling your gunna ahve to get it fixed. I am sure a machine shop could do a temporary fixe as well.

Is it the very top of the motor, one of them 12 bolts that seals the top? Think its called the valve cover head or something.

Cause i broke one of them bolts before... just put some JB weld on it and then replaced the bolt like 1.5 yrs later when i did my rebuild.

THe best way is to go to nappa and buy a heli-coil.Cost around $40.You need a 6mm one.You drill the hole with whatever size its says (1/4 maybe i dont remember) Then twist the heli-coil into the hole and you can use the same size bolt. Order a new bolt from service honda.

If the head is cracked, get a new one. You can try using temporary fixes, but in the long run, it will crack again. Do it the right way, buy a new head.
