I have some questions. Im thinking about building a CRF450 quad from frame up. What is the best frame to use to put a CRF engine in? Ill probably use the same brand of a-arms and swingarm as the frame. How much will it cost altogether do you think if I just have the basic stuff to have it ridable? How much money do people that have them have invested in theirs? Would it be better to buy the engine, wiring, and carburetor or the whole bike? Any websites for CRF projects? Thanks

Ours was around $15,000. Houser makes everything you need for the conversion.

I feel ya freeride132. I would like to build a CRF quad, or buy one already built and lots of people say...just wait. WHY? after you get the new honda, but money into the motor, a arms, shocks, axle, swingarm, ect. i'm gonna have 11-15 grand wrapped up it.

I've seen quite a few very nice CRF quads for sale from 9-20g's. If i bought one for 10000, i'd say that it's a better deal!

just my opinion.

Oh yeah and chekc this out....comes with shocks, frame, a arms, swing, airbox, motormounts, ect. Not really sure if thats a good price or not though

yup im going with the baldwin kit for this season then upgrading to a arens end of the season probaly, i know ill be satisfied with the crf motor and these new quads are great for racers just getting into things but i got 10,000 invested in mine and another 5 to get what i want is cheaper than 6800+ 3,000 for mods, i just dont see the use into going to productions quads, if the factories get involved with racing becuase of there new quads and start improving them ill buy one but til then i dont want some 14 year old kid telling me to wait a month for something either of us know anything abotu when im trying to get some info

What would be better to do? Buy a used bike, new engine, or new bike? Ive seen the a red Houser CRF frame in person thats nice. Isnt it the 250r geometry? Im thinking about going with Arens CRF/400ex frame now so that if something happens I always have my 400ex to use parts off of. I want mostly everything new and I dont know how hard it would be to get ahold of 250r parts such and brakes and whatnot. This way if I get the frame and have the engine I still have my 400ex so I could just put all my stuff off my 400ex on the CRF until I can get the stuff for the CRF to have 2 complete quads (CRF and 400ex). Does this sound like a good idea?

Oh yeah im not waiting to buy the new Honda or a YFZ. I dont want a stock machine anymore unless im hearing really good stuff about them. What ill end up doing is buying it for $6500 - 7000 and putting a-arms, axle, shocks, pipe, handlebars, brake lines, wheels, tires, parking brake block off, etc. on it and have $10,000 into it when I can build something better and faster for as much or a little more than that. I learned my lesson with my 400ex. Once I started racing I broke stuff alot. Cracked frame numerous times, a-arms, rear shock, and so on. It seems like I break or wear stuff out constantly thats stock.
