View Full Version : what makes a 400 a 416..

just drop in a piston? or do you need to bore it out some? add a cam? 416 is cubic centimeters ,right.what would i need to make my 400 a 416 or 425? new piston ,then........

how much would that cost ? boring and piston? round about....can just any machine shop do the boring ?

Yeah a machine shop that has a boring machine can do it. Im not sure what the prieces are but you will need a piston and rings and gaskets. A cam would be great to for it to let it rip. LIke a web cam or a hot cam 2 Tc gt thunder Sparks. Get a drop in cam so you dont have to get harden rockers and new vavles but in the long run it would help and heavdy springs would help to. I heard a real good Port and Polish the head mill ect. would really let it rip. Well good luck with the 416 i still gotta start mine but im recovering from my lil accedent Good luck

a piston is about 120$ bore is about 45$ and the gaskets can range around 30-45$. That is about what myne cost and the hotcam stage 2 was another 120$. It isn't that expensive as long as you do all the labor yourself.
