In response to the Bureau of Land Management’s planned implementation of user fees, and other important issues that involve some of the popular riding areas in the Southern California desert, AMA/District 37 has scheduled a series of public meeting to assist all interested parties in making comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report and Statement for the West Mojave Plan, according to Dave Oakleaf, AMA/District 37 legislative officer.

The plan will govern management decisions for the West Mojave region of the California desert for the next 30 years. The draft document is tilted toward species and habitat protection. Motorized recreation along with hunting, construction, mining, grazing, rockhounding and other activities that the public has enjoyed with little restriction in the past will be impacted. Those attending will learn how to add their input for the public record. District 37 racers will earn race points for attending.

For additional information, contact Bill Howell 760/321-1723 or Sandy Howell 909/218-9774.

Schedule:

Wednesday, August 20, Brea High School cafeteria, Wildcat Way, Brea, California

Thursday, August 21, Green Tree Inn, I-15 at Palmdale, Blvd., Victorville, California

Wednesday, August 27, VFW Post 1746, 1032 South Street, Long Beach, California

Thursday, August 28, Antelope Valley Inn, 44055 N. Sierra Hwy., Lancaster, California

Saturday, August 30, J’s Maintenance, 3550 Foothill Blvd., Glendale, California

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This is for the next 30 years and will have a major impact for us for a long time, even if we dont live in California. Please attend one of these meetings and voice your concerns. Serious stuff guys!!!!.
