Anyone know why the new 450 is an R instead of a EX?

I think the 400 was originaly intended to be a trail bike.
And the new 450 is planned more for racing.

R = race, aluminum frame, fuel injected 55 hp stock, Oh wait sorry i was dreaming there for a second. I can hope and dream and druel a little cant I??

450R is a spit hit off of Honda's legendary 250R that still kicks *** today. 450R is a "Out of the crate, Race ready machine." Where as they intended for the EX line up to be a fun trail play bike. Even tho the 400EX is kicking *** in the races too.

all the old X bikes were four strokes, then the 400 was electric start....so theres the EX......and you boys are right, R=Race, but not as race as a custom crf i think....

I dont think there is really anything behind it. Its just a marketing tool. Havent you noticed how a lot of performance models have an "R" at the end of the name nowdays. Cars, Streetbikes, everything. By putting "R" at the end of the name consumers associate it with perfomance. Just hondas way of letting you know its a perfomance bike...
If it was a chevy it would be a "SS"
if it was a ford it would be a "GT"
