What am I gonna lose or miss out on if I buy a new quad out-of-state to keep from paying sales tax?

Not payin Out of State sales taxes is not a given. We recently had a $550 bill from the IRS for the two 250s we bought in TN almost 2 years ago and a friend of mine also had a $300 bill come in for his 02' 400ex he bought a year and a half ago.

The IRS is tricky :uhoh:

Although the out-of-state dealership won't charge you interest it's state law that you must report that purchase on your tax form in the spring. Most people don't and they never get caught but sometimes the state looks into things like this and out of the blue you get a letter stating you owe $600+ in back taxes from an unreported out-of-state purchase. A member here just got dinged with this very thing.

Yeah I know that I could get dinged later, and I guess that would be ok, even though I would rather not.

But what I am trying to do here is pay cash for 2 quads at once, a YFZ450 for me, and a new Raptor for my wife, she needs reverse.

And if I could save the few bucks right now that would be great even if I had to pay it later.

But what I am concerned about is will I get a real Title or just a MSO, MCO, or whatever it is.

So if I buy out of state will I get a Title or just a bill of sale or what?

It varies from state to state. You can get a title no matter what state you buy it in as long as your state issuses them for atv's.

Well my state does issue titles for atv's but to get a title I will probably have to pay tax on it in my state right?
