I've noticed my motor is not as strong as in cooler weather.
With the hot weather am I getting less air or more air? Do I need to lean the main jet or richen it. Also, can't I change the main without removing/taking apart the carb.
Thanks for your help,
JB:

In hot weather you are getting a little less oxygen. To change the main just take off those side panels and unlatch those rubber things holding the tank down. Then loosen the clamps on the carb so that u can turn it enough to take off the bottom of the bowl.

Hot air has a lower density than cold air therefore you need to lean it out as the temps rise and richen it up as the temps drop.

You dont have to remove anything to get to the main jet, just use a 17 mm box wrench remove cap screw in bottom of bowl and use a 6 mm 1/4 drive socket to remove main jet right as everything sits. just dont overtighten it when you put it back in.

Warm air lean it out, Cold air richen it up.

what kind of pipe your running? complete or slip on? i had a 165 in when i put on my x-6 with no choke and no lid and it ran pretty slow. i lowered my jetting to a 160 and it dramatically helped. it may even be quickest with the 158 in though.

I'm running a pro-circuit t-4, with a 3x5 hole in the airbox lid.

a larger mainjet should make the bike run better in colder weather?? if you only have a t-4 slip on and the modded lid, i would run a 155 main.
